photo credit Nasa / Goddard Space Flight Center / Reto Stöckli By: Asha Macdonald, Danielle Pomeroy How Bullying has changed over time. Bullying has been around since the beginning of time. If there was a person who dressed differently, spoke in another language/accent, or acted differently, there always had to be another person there to make them feel inferior. Bullying in the Past Bulling was once "In your face" because it wouldn't be the bully talking behind your back, it would be them actually coming up to your face and verbally assaulting you. For example, expecting lunch money from weaker/ less confident children. What examples can you think of, that , make children afraid of bullies?
Bullying:
-name calling
-insults
-physical harm
-social exclusion
-property theft/destruction How has bullying changed, and affected the people in our community and around the world? The state of bullying has changed so much over the years and around the world, that its hard to know all the new stories happening around the globe. Bullying has changed in ways no one could imagine, from cyberbullying, making fun of sexual orientation, to sexual harassment. . Bullying over the years has put large amount of stress on the affected victims. It has lowered their self -esteem, so they are less likely to stand out or even put their hands up in class. The affected can also go into a state of depression, even have suicidal thoughts, feelings of loneliness, and anxiousness. The victims may even start to withdraw socially What is Cyber Bullying? The "New and Improved" form of bullying: Cyber Bullying Cyberbullying is the use of technology to harass, embarrass, and emotionally harm someone. There are two kinds of Cyberbullying. Direct attacks (messages sent directly to the victim) and Cyberbullying by proxy (using others to help cyberbully Is the change of Bullying good for the society? The change of bullying is NOT, in any way good for society. It never was and never will be. Children used their homes as a sence of safety after a long day of school, but now, the assulting has follwed them all the way home; because of the internet , and cellular devices. With the change and development of the world and its technology, bullying has found a way to evolve with it, and change form So , in all bullying hasnt changed , at all, to coexist with society. Cyberbulllying is when a child or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another person using the Internet, or mobile phones. Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. Adult cyber-harassment or cyberstalking is NEVER called cyberbullying. Bullying is a long term problem. The evolution of bullying probably won't stop, because technology will keep changing. With the technology changing, the bullying problem will find a way to intensify. One of the biggest problems is that some of the kids that have been cyber bullied wont tell anyone because they think it's their own fault and don't tell an adult they trust. When people are cyber bullied they should always tell someone like a parent, guardian, or a trusted adult because they will try to help you to stop it to the best of their abilities. Is the change of bullying long-term or short-term? Cyber stalking is when someone uses the internet, email, or cell phones to threaten another person. This is considered one of the most dangerous types of internet harassment because they are saying they are going to physical harm a person. Cyber stalking is meant to scare you about being harmed physically. The other types of internet harassment is cyber stalking and cyberharrasment. Cyber harassment is when the bully is trying to hurt you not physically but mentally. This is when they use the internet to torment another person. As the result of the change we selected will there be more change in the future? Yes there will be more change with the bullies tactics because techolody will become more and more advance. The bullies will have to keep up with all the new technology because they will always want to find new ways to make people feel inferior. Thanks for listening!
