Digital Portfolios
why
There are four main purposes for a digital portfolio
to demonstrate learning
to Assess learning
to reflect on learning
to guide learning

Explains and display what has been learnied in a particular unit.
Is usually constructed while a unit of work is taking place
Is closely aligned to the learning criteria for the unit

Contain:
Learning goals/objectives
Artefacts that demonstrate stated learning goals
Final products
Commentary (not just the products themselves)



Is usually constructed as a unit progresses 
Is used to reflect upon:
What was learned
How the tasks were approached
What could be improved in future investigations/units
It contains:
A variety of file types (audio, video, text)
Reflective commentary




Aims to support the decisions about the learning 
activities that need to "come next". It is used with the 
student or others* to identify patterns of behaviour or 
learning difficulties which are causing issues and discuss
 strategies for change.

It contains:
Articles of work
Video
Audio
Where the student fails to meet expected standards

*parents, support staff, etc


Are developed to prove learning. The portfolio IS the assessment.

In this type of portfolio, meaning is conctructed through the 
process of producing the portfolio.
Often have an audience other than the student, teacher or parents.
