A Google Map using real time data from the
Country Fire Authority (CFA)
The Victorian Government's refusal to provide data for Google's bushfire map mashup limited its scope and highlighted glaring problems with Crown copyright provisions.
The CFA, manages fires on private lands and within four hours of being asked for the data the map was live.

Google's search for data to plot fires on public lands — which are managed by the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment — produced an entirely different result. Here they met with an explicit denial of permission to access VDSA's internal data,
