Satire in Today's Media Family Guy: "No Meals on Wheels" Written by Mike Henry and directed by Greg Colton I chose this video because it's humorous while also pointing out multiple stereotypical issues in our society Satire: Handicapped Homosexuality Native Americans Compares choosing to be gay to choosing to be handicapped Henry is also satirizing society’s feeling that the Native Americans are a burden to us, even though we took their land and owe them much more than the small reservations we have so “graciously” given them The author is making fun of people who say the stereotypical line " I think it’s immoral. It’s a lifestyle choice you’re forcing on America," when refering to the gay community Purpose: To make you think about some of your opinions and whether they are rational or nonsense Effective? Maybe, because it was viewed by a large audience, but likely it did no more than make people think or laugh at some of their opinions and how stupid they may sound when put in a different context
